Among the working residents of this city of 31,133, professional, scientific and technical services lead with 3,979 (28.9%), followed by manufacturing with 2,277 (16.5%), health care and social assistance with 1,653 (12%), education with 1,422 (10.3%), information and media with 1,405 (10.2%) and retail trade with 611 (4.4%). Retail is the smallest of those groups, which fits a city that Wikipedia describes as a bedroom community with commercial zones limited to downtown and a few small centers.

These are counts from that list and year only, and a supplier can mention proximity without naming any of them as a customer.
Competition arrives from the county. Santa Clara County has 1,173 real estate agents and brokers, 1,543 dentists, 603 beauty salons and 371 accounting firms in total. Those are county figures, not Los Altos counts, but a dentist near Downtown Los Altos still has to win on a specialty, a language or a short walk from a parking lot.

Affluence here is nearly uniform, and the numbers are at the top of our set. Median household income is $250,000 or more (typical city: $95,764), median home value reads $2,000,000 or more because the Census stops counting there, median rent is $3,501 (typical: $1,970) and the poverty rate is 3.1% (typical: 9.7%). Degrees are near universal: 86.4% of adults hold a bachelor's degree against 34% for the typical city. A search for a contractor or tax adviser from this audience is a research project, so pages that show scope, credentials and process in full do the selling.
Daytime life is local. About 33% of workers work from home (typical: 11.8%) and only 8% commute 45 minutes or more (typical: 20.1%), so a lunch stop on State Street, an errand at Loyola Corners or a repair booked at ten in the morning all come from someone within a few minutes. Opening hours that match a Thursday evening or a Tuesday noon matter more here than a wide service radius.

With so few renters in Downtown Los Altos or beyond, remodelers, landscapers and painters write for owners planning large projects, with permits, timelines and photos of finished work. A page per service and one per neighborhood beats a single list of everything.
Corridor shopping and dining
Restaurants and grocers on El Camino Real describe parking, takeout and hours in plain words, because their rivals sit a few miles down the same road. Short, accurate profiles reduce wrong-turn visits.

As geography, yes: serving students from Los Altos High School or Bullis Charter School families is useful information. Avoid phrasing that suggests a school refers students to you, and do not publish anything about specific students or results.
At Rancho Shopping Center, a profile and one page per service are enough for most tenants, written with the suite number and the center's name. The center opened in 1951 with 30 shops, and many customers know it by name, so the name belongs in directions and listings.
On State Street, remove the Thursday hours from the profile and website on the date the season closes, and put them back when it returns. Wrong hours cost trust faster than missing ones, so we keep a calendar of changes and update every listing together.
If customers come from there, yes. Both are only a few miles from Downtown Los Altos, and residents move between the three for errands and appointments. Each page should name the streets you actually reach and avoid copying the Los Altos text.
