Place names come from city, county and regional sources and are informal; searchers use whichever name feels natural to them.
Who buys
The city's economic development page says Commerce offers freeway and rail access close to downtown Los Angeles to its roughly 1,800 businesses, and the BNSF Hobart Yard sits within its borders. Wikipedia adds that Commerce kept much of its manufacturing and goods-distribution base through the 1970s and 1980s and has benefited from trade through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Four regional rail yards sit inside the city: Union Pacific Commerce, BNSF Hobart, BNSF Commerce/Eastern and BNSF Sheila Mechanical, per a city letter.
Two destinations anchor the visitor side. Wikipedia says the Commerce Casino produced 38% of the city's tax revenue in fiscal year 2006-07, and a 2019 report put the Citadel Outlets' tax payments to the city at about $12 million to $14 million a year, with an expansion that could add about 1,750 jobs. Those figures are dated and the expansion's status is unconfirmed, but they show why parking, food and quick service near both places are steady search topics.
Beyond the big names, the base includes Smart & Final, the warehouse grocery chain based here, and Kimlan Foods USA, a food company headquartered here, according to Wikipedia. The city also runs a free Employment and Business Development Center that matches job seekers with employers. Among residents, retail, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing and construction are all large, so suppliers and trades have a ready local customer base to describe on their pages.
